The series has been directed by Rajkumar Gupta. The series features actors like Riteish Deshmukh, Pavan Malhotra, Anshul Chauhan, Akshat Chauhan, Kunj Anand, Baharul Islam, Neha Saraf. The show is streaming on JioCinema.
Riteish Deshmukh’s OTT release is a silent and slow one. The show is intriguing and leaves you to want more. Pill feels like one of those shows which you start to watch with a lot of excitement as it ticks all the boxes which one loves but when one starts to enjoy the story but is left with a lukewarm feeling. The show consists a solid story foundation with an acclaimed director. It also has a versatile actor eith a platform which is accessible to millions of viewers. But unfortunately the show loses its hook and edges somewhere down the line. Pill has been released on JioCinema on 12th July. The trailer of the show has received a mixed review because it doesn’t reveal it all at the first glimpse. The story follows the life of Prakash Chauhan portrayed by Riteish Deshmukh who is an ordinary man and he tries to go against the people who retakm power, money and influence it all to fool the common people. The story of about the corrupt big pharmaceutical industry and how deel the ruin is. As the story continues, the medical drama grips the viewers with emotion. It also intrigues it’s viewers with the thrilling plot and leaves the viewers with some questions.
The series Pill is a medical thriller and it tells about how powerful and influential industries try to manipulate their way in life to get what they want even be it the cost of a human life. Riteish Deshmukh is to debut in the OTT platform and is laced with mystery and an air of malice. Pill is a game of cat and mouse which has no cages or traps in sight.
Pill explores the pharmaceutical industry’s dark side. The story of the series revolves around Prakash, who is an Indian whistleblower and he works for the Medicine Authority of India. His decision is to expose a global pharmaceutical business for unethical clinical studies. The series has been produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP.
Riteish in his debut series, has portrayed the character of a simple yet earnest man who tries to do the right thing and is beautifully complimented by his trademark. In case, it has elevated humour. Sometimes, Hitesh’s mere presence in hapazard situations and his blank reaction leads to comic relief. The series tends to be a great break away from the kind of slapstick comedy roles with which Ritesh’s fans are familiar with. After Ved and Pill, it can be said that Ritesh is finally stepping into his own and is getting serious.
Actor Pavan Malhotra ha f also gave an out-of-thr box performance as he ace to the menacing antagonist. He can be seen portraying the role of a powerful industrialist who will go to any lengths to dk what he wants. His performance is subtle but effective and also has an eerie feeling to it. This further added to the thrill of the show.
Akshat Chauhan have gave the biggest and most refreshing performance as Noor Khan who is a naive journalist and he just stumbles upon the worst-kept secret of the big pharma and sets the chaos in motion. Chauhan is a breath of fresh air in what can otherwise become a very heavy show. He has delivered some one-liners and little indie quips which have added comedic flair. But behind this funny exterior, his performance takes the spotlight away.
Pill has a lot of medical drama but the potential I’d to stand out because it has a subplot of corruption running through it. The show’s story takes a while to get into the interest. This is another thing which takes the show down a notch.
The story takes a dip into many moments. There is a lot of fillers in moments which feel important and takes away from the gravity of the scene and even the story few times. The story takes a long time to narrate the real story for the viewers will may eventually lose interest in the show. The show has many high points but they are surrounded by more indifferent and bland ones for which the actual substance starts to slip out. This makes the show a hard pill to swallow.
Pill might not be the best medical thriller but it is a well-made effort which tells story that is rooted in deceit, corruption and at the heart of it. It also shows how one fights against the system. Riteish Deshmukh’s performance sails the viewers through some of the rough parts. Other actors also do justice to their parts as well. This eventually makes the show worth watching.
Pill hooks it’s viewers with its plot and does a good job of narrating the plight of the common people and how rich and powerful always take advantage of the system. Pill will surely leave an aftertaste.
