Chandrika Dixit, popularly known as Delhi’s Vada Pav Girl, has found herself at the center of a controversy after taking a dig at YouTube sensation Carry Minati for using abusive language towards her in one of his roast videos. Chandrika, who recently participated in Bigg Boss OTT season 3 hosted by Anil Kapoor, has been quite vocal about her experiences and opinions since her eviction from the show.
Carry Minati, whose real name is Ajey Nagar, is known for his roast videos where he humorously criticizes and mocks various public figures and internet personalities. In one of his recent videos, he targeted street food vendors who have gained celebrity status, including Dolly Chaiwala and Chandrika Dixit. As part of his comedic style, Minati used abusive language towards Dixit, which did not sit well with her. In a recent video, Chandrika responded to Minati’s roast, questioning his ‘sanskar’ or values for using such language against a woman for entertainment purposes. She stated, “Gaaliyan nahi dungi, don’t worry Carry, kyunki mere sanskar gali dene wale nahi hai. Meri maa ne mujhe gaali dena nahi sikhaya hai,” which translates to, “I won’t abuse you, Carry, don’t worry, because my values don’t permit it. My mother didn’t teach me to use abusive language.”
However, her comments quickly backfired when a snippet of her interview started circulating on social media. Netizens unearthed an old clip where Chandrika herself was seen using vulgar and abusive language, accusing her of hypocrisy. An Instagram user shared the old clip with the caption, “Haan behn tu gali nahi deti,” meaning, “Yes sister, you don’t abuse.” This prompted a flurry of comments from netizens who were quick to troll Chandrika for her contradictory statements.
Comments on the post ranged from humorous to critical. One user wrote, “Kisi ko kuch kehna hai, vada pav ke bare me,” poking fun at her famous vada pav business. Another commented, “Is card ko kya naam du,” translating to, “What should I call this card (referring to her hypocrisy).” Others chimed in with comments like, “Isme naya kya hai yeh to pahle se hi jhuti hai,” which means, “What’s new in this? She has always been a liar,” and “Shayad dusri maa ki bat kar rahi thi!” implying that perhaps she was referring to someone else’s values. Despite the backlash, Chandrika continues to focus on her vada pav business and remains active on social media, where she shares glimpses of her daily life and interactions with fans. Meanwhile, the current season of Bigg Boss OTT 3 features contestants like Ranvir Shorey, Armaan Malik, Kritika Malik, Lovekesh Kataria, Sai Ketan Rao, Sana Makbul, and Shivani Kumari, and is streaming on Jio Cinema.
This controversy highlights the complexities of public personas and the scrutiny that comes with fame, especially in the age of social media where past actions are never truly forgotten. As Chandrika navigates the backlash, it serves as a reminder of the importance of consistency and authenticity in the public eye.
