Director Mari Selvaraj clarified in a recent interview that the upcoming film starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran, titled Bison Kaalamaadan, is not based on real-life incidents. The film, announced on Monday with a poster release, sparked rumors of being a biopic. However, Mari dismissed these rumors, affirming that Bison is a fictional narrative centered around kabaddi.
Speaking from the film’s shooting location in Tirunelveli, Mari emphasized that Bison is not a biopic but rather a fictional tale. He outlined the shooting schedule, mentioning a 60-day stint in Tirunelveli followed by shooting in Chennai for the remaining portions. Despite some reports suggesting Bison to be based on real events, Mari, known for his impactful films like Karnan and Pariyerum Perumal, reiterated that it is entirely fictional.

Dhruv Vikram’s preparation for Bison has been notable. Praising the actor’s dedication, his manager, Suryanarayanan, expressed confidence in Dhruv’s potential to become a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, akin to his father, Chiyaan Vikram.
Bison boasts a talented team, with Pa Ranjith joining as one of the producers, Nivas K Prasanna handling music, Ezhil Arasu K behind the camera, and Aegan Ekambaram in charge of costumes. Apart from Dhruv and Anupama, the film features Lal, Pasupathy, Kalaiyarasan, Rajisha Vijayan, Hari Krishnan, Azhagam Perumal, and Aruvi Madhan in significant roles.
Dhruv’s last appearance was in the 2022 film Mahaan alongside his father Vikram. He also lent his vocals for the 2023 Telugu film Hi Nanna with Shruti Haasan. Meanwhile, Anupama Parameswaran was last seen in Tillu Square in Telugu and will feature in Paradha in the same language, as well as JSK in Malayalam.
Mari Selvaraj’s clarification about Bison being a fictional narrative sheds light on the film’s premise, dispelling rumors of it being a biopic. With a talented cast and crew, Bison Kaalamaadan promises to be an exciting addition to Tamil cinema.
