Kamal Hassan’s latest release Indian 2 have failed the critical Monday test and the numbers have been dropped down to single digits.
The film Indian 2 is Shankar’s much-awaited vigilante film. The movie features Kamal Haasan in the role of Senspathy Verma. Generally films which features great star powers manages to mint a huge opening on Friday and sustain the same momentum over the weekend and finally end up crashing on Monday and owe to negative reviews. According to Sacnilk, the movie Indian 2 has turned out to be on the same list.
On its first Monday, Indian 2 dropped down to single digits and managed to earn ₹3.15 crore nett. The film has a steady decline over the weekend and the Monday collection is a huge drop from that on Sunday. On the third day, the film amassed ₹15.35 crore which is a little less than the earnings of Saturday which was ₹ 18.2 crore and this earnings was a further drop from its opening day which was ₹25.6 crore.
The movie has collected the most amount from the Tamil and Telugu market. Whereas the smallest amount earned by the film is from the Hindi version. The collection from Monday is not been ascertained yet. It can be said the film is to witness further downfall throughout the week.
Shankar’s directorial film Indian 2 is the sequel of the 1996 cult film ‘Indian’. The sequel bad been considered to be the comeback of sorts for Shankar. After the death of writer Sujatha in 2008, the director have appeared to hit low.
The combination of Shankar and Sujatha have delivered a lot of hits in the Tamil film industry which includes, Rajinkanth and Aishwarya Rai-starrer Enthiran being considered a pinnacle for them. In Indian 2, Kamal Hassan revives the role of Senspathy who is loving called by Indian fans as ‘Indian Thatha’. He fights against corruption and is armed with the ancient martial art practice of India which is ‘varma kalai’. The music of the original film was by AR Rahman and on the other hand, Anirudh have composed the music of the sequel. The movie Indian 2 have been co-produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. The film also features Siddharth, S J Suryah, Bobby Simha, Gulshan Grover and late Nedumudi Venu.
