The Buckingham Murders: Kareena Kapoor Khan Demonstrates Her Exceptional Talent as an Actress; Says “Played a Role of Pr*stitute in Chameli but….”; Read Now to Know More!

Kareena Kapoor Khan, a name synonymous with versatility and grace in the Indian film industry, is ready to captivate audiences once again with her upcoming film, The Buckingham Murders. At the recent trailer launch event, the glamorous actress opened up about her latest role as Jasmeet Bhamra, a determined detective at the heart of a gripping crime investigation. As fans eagerly await the film’s release, Kareena’s insights into her character and her reflections on her previous roles have sparked curiosity and excitement. During the event, Kareena was asked an interesting question: whether her new character, Jas, shares any similarities with her iconic role as Geet from the 2007 film Jab We Met. For those unfamiliar, Geet is one of the most beloved characters in modern Bollywood, particularly among younger audiences. Known for her infectious energy, spontaneity, and the charm of a free-spirited Sikhni from Bathinda, Geet has become an emblematic role in Kareena’s illustrious career. However, Kareena was quick to clarify that while both characters are Sardarnis, the similarities end there.

She explained, “It doesn’t matter if you’re playing the same authenticity of a religion, like if I am a Sikhni, it doesn’t mean that I’m going to be Bathinda wali Sikhni. I should also be able to play the detective Jas Bhamra.” Through this statement, Kareena emphasized the importance of versatility in acting. For her, embodying different aspects of a character’s background or culture does not mean replicating the same personality traits or behaviors. Jas, unlike Geet, is a much more subdued, introspective character, reflecting the serious and intense tone of The Buckingham Murders.

Kareena also reflected on her previous roles, particularly in films like Chameli and Talaash, where she played vastly different characters, despite both being sex workers. In Chameli, she portrayed the titular character, a street-smart, bold woman who carries the weight of her harsh realities with a surprising mix of resilience and humor. Meanwhile, in Talaash, her character Rosie is shrouded in mystery, carrying an ethereal, almost ghostly presence throughout the film. Kareena highlighted that while both characters share a similar profession, their portrayal and the essence they brought to the narrative were worlds apart. “Like I’ve played a prostitute in Chameli but at the same time in Talaash. But if you put both of them together, they’re completely different,” she explained, further illustrating her point that an actor’s job is to breathe life into each character, making them distinct and memorable in their own right.

Returning to The Buckingham Murders, Kareena’s role as Detective Jasmeet Bhamra is a testament to her ever-evolving acting prowess. The film’s trailer, which has already garnered significant attention, hints at a dark and thrilling narrative. It follows Detective Bhamra as she navigates a web of deceit, danger, and distrust, trying to uncover the truth behind a gruesome murder. Her character is portrayed as someone who is not easily swayed by appearances, preferring to rely on her instincts and experience to solve the case.
