The buzz around Stree 2 has been undeniable. After the first installment became a favorite among audiences, expectations for the sequel were sky-high. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan, Stree 2 has managed to not only meet but exceed those expectations. The film has already grossed over ₹200 crores in its first week alone, a testament to its gripping storyline, stellar performances, and the love fans have for this horror-comedy franchise.
The movie’s success can also be attributed to its ensemble cast, which includes some of the finest talents in the industry today. The film stars Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and several other notable actors. Each of them brought their A-game, delivering performances that have captivated audiences and critics alike. However, it is Bhumi Rajgor, in the role of “Stree,” who has particularly caught the attention of viewers. Her character is both powerful and entertaining, a combination that has made her portrayal unforgettable.
During an interview with Zoom, Bhumi opened up about her experience working on the film. She expressed how exhilarating it was to be a part of such a successful project, although she admitted that it was not without its challenges. Despite not being a sports enthusiast, Bhumi found herself performing numerous action scenes throughout the movie. “I was always in the air with a harness,” she recalled with a laugh, highlighting the physical demands of the role. The action sequences, which were integral to the story, required Bhumi to push herself beyond her comfort zone, but the end result was worth it.
Bhumi didn’t stop at just talking about her experience on set. She also shared the rather humorous and unexpected way she ended up landing the role of Stree. It all started when she received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number, inviting her to audition for a role. The message was for a part called “Chitti,” and although Bhumi sent in her audition, she didn’t hear back for an entire month. The delay left her unsure of the outcome, but she continued with her routine, not dwelling too much on it. When she finally received a reply, the message was far from what she expected. The person on the other end informed her that they wanted to cast her in a very significant role, but there was a catch—her face wouldn’t be seen on screen. Despite the unusual nature of the request, Bhumi decided to go ahead and submit an emotional audition clip as requested. To her surprise, she was informed soon after that she had been selected for the role, and that the film’s director, Amar Kaushik, wanted to meet her in person.
Bhumi admitted that she was puzzled by this turn of events. Why would a director of Amar Kaushik’s caliber want to meet her for a role where her face wouldn’t even be visible? Nevertheless, she made the trip to Mumbai and arrived at the Maddock office to meet the director. What happened next was even more surprising. Kaushik informed her that she had been cast as “Stree,” the lead character in the film. Bhumi was in disbelief—this was far beyond anything she had imagined when she first got that message.
Kaushik then asked Bhumi to scream as loudly as she could, and instructed everyone around to open the windows. They were on the 7th or 8th floor of the building, and as Bhumi screamed, people from neighboring buildings started peering out of their windows, curious about the commotion. Kaushik then told her that her audition was complete, and that it was perfect. It was an unconventional audition, to say the least, but one that clearly worked in Bhumi’s favor.
Stree 2 is not just about its main cast; the film also features several exciting cameos. Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, and Tamannaah Bhatia all make appearances, adding even more star power to the already star-studded movie.
Bhumi Rajgor’s journey to becoming “Stree” is as memorable as the character itself. Her story is a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected opportunities can lead to the most extraordinary experiences. With her performance in Stree 2, Bhumi has undoubtedly left a lasting impression, and audiences are already eager to see what she will do next.
