The recent passing of the legendary ghazal singer, Pankaj Udhas, at the age of 72 has left a void in the music industry. Known for his soothing voice and timeless songs, Udhas has created a musical legacy cherished by fans. Interestingly, it was revealed that one of Udhas’s concerts played a pivotal role in the early days of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s career.
In 2017, during the promotion of his film “Raees,” Shah Rukh Khan shared a nostalgic anecdote about his humble beginnings. He disclosed that he earned his first paycheck of Rs 50 while working as an usher at Pankaj Udhas’s concert. Recalling those early days, Khan nostalgically said, “I have traveled some long distances when I was younger. I did one, when I got my first earnings from Pankaj Udhas’s concert, I was an usher. We got Rs 50, so we went to Taj Mahal, saved money,” according to a PTI report.
Additionally, Khan humorously recounted an incident during his journey back to Delhi after the concert. Having indulged in a Pink lassi, he suffered the consequences of a bee encounter. Despite the comical mishap, the memory remains a testament to Shah Rukh Khan’s humble beginnings and the unconventional paths that lead to the making of a Bollywood icon.
