Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Debut Period Drama Becomes Most Viewed Indian Series on Netflix; Trending In Top 10 Across 43 Countries

Sanjay Leela Bhansali made his debut in web series with Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. From the very first week of the release, the series got major views.

The series features, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh. The series emerged as the most-viewed Indian Series streaming on Netflix.

The series was digitally released on May 1 and in its first week, became the most-viewed Indian series. The series have been trending in Top 10 chart across 43 countries and in Non-English TV List, the series holds second position. It also casts Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman.

The series is ranked in 4.5 million views with 33 million accumulated viewership hours. It is behind The Asunta Case which had 12 million views in its second week. The show is also ahead of The Kapil Sharma Show which was debuted few weeks back with a number three spot with 2.5 million views.

The series is about thr backdrop of India of the timeline between 1920 and 1940. The series showcases the clash between the courtesans of the red-light district of Heeramandi in Lahore and the British Raj officials. The series also showcases the rivalry between the courtesans and their desire for freedom.
