Ramoji Film City Founder and Media Mogul Ramoji Rao Passes Away; Report

Media bigwig, producer and businessman Ramoji Rao passes away at the age of 87 on June 8. His last rights will be conducted with state honours.

On Saturday, people from all over the country along with the celebrities and politicians mourned because of his demise. The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) and The Telugu Film Producers Council have announced suspension off all the shoots on Sunday.

TFPC took their official X and by sharing a press note wrote, “Ramoji Rao’s death will bring the Telugu film industry to a standstill in Andhra and Telangana states tomorrow,”

The TFCC also by releasing the similar press note wrote, “Telugu Film Producers Council hereby inform that as a mark of respect to Sri Ramoji Rao garu who passed away today morning (08.06.24) that Telugu Film Industry will remain closed tomorrow in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, there will be no shootings or any film related works tomorrow.”

Many film personalities have temporarily halted the shooting in Hyderabad on Saturday in respect of Ramoji Rao. After his demise, his body has been brought to his residence in Ramoji Film City after his demise at Star Hospital. Since few years he has been suffering from an illness.

A Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana hailed Ramoji for his dedication to journalism. He has also announced that the Telengana government will be conducting the last rights of Ramoji with state honours on Sunday morning. All the arrangements will be made by the Collector and Cyberabad Commission for the same.

Rajinikanth took to his X and wrote, “I am deeply saddened on hearing the demise of my mentor and well wisher Shri Ramoji Rao Garu. The man who created history in Journalism, Cinema and a great kingmaker in Politics. He was my guide and inspiration in my life. May his soul rest in peace.”

Actor Mahesh Babu also wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of Ramoji Rao Garu, a visionary always ahead of his time. Ramoji Film City is a testament to his brilliance and passion for cinema. His legacy will continue to inspire us all. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones. May his soul rest in peace.”

Other celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, Ritesh Deshmukh, Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh Daggubati and Pawan Kalyan have also wrote in the tribute of Rajamoli. According to SS Rajamouli and Allu Arjun, Ramoji should be honoured with Bharat Ratna.
