Filmmaker AR Murugadoss wanted Salman Khan in the Hindi remake of Tamil movie Ghajini. In a recent interview with Siddharth Khanna, the filmmaker who also played the role of the villain for both the Tamil and Hindi movie revealed that he had convinced to cast ‘cool-tempered’ Aamir Khan instead of ‘short-tempered’ Salman Khan.
Pradeep Ranaut has opened up about why Salman is not the one for the role and said, “AR Murugadoss used to keep saying ‘I want to make it (Ghajini) in Hindi, I want to make it in Hindi…’ I thought in my mind ‘Salman is short-tempered and Murugadoss doesn’t speak in English or Hindi. He didn’t even have a personality back then.’”
Pradeep has worked with Aamir Khan in Sarfarosh(1999) from which he thought that Aamir would be perfect fit in the film.
He said, “I thought Aamir would be the right choice for the role because he was cool-tempered and behaves respectfully with everyone. In the past 25 years, I have not seen Aamir shout or yell at anyone. He has never disrespected anyone or used abusive language. So I thought, nature-wise, Salman cannot be handled or there would be unnecessary complications.”
Ghajini is a action thriller which is directed and co-written by AR Murugadoss. The film was his debut Bollywood movie. The movie casted Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan. Pradeep Ranaut was in the role of antagonist.
The story of the film is about Sanjay Singhania which was portrayed by Aamir Khan who was a successful entrepreneur. He suffers from anterograde amnesia after an attack on him and his fiancee Kalpana which was portrayed by Asin.
