The much-anticipated sequel, “Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2“, recently hit cinemas, marking a collaboration between director Dibakar Banerjee and producer Ektaa R. Kapoor. The film, a follow-up to the 2010 original, stirred excitement among fans with its teaser and trailer, showcasing a lineup of intriguing cameo appearances, including Mouni Roy, known for her iconic role in “Naagin”.
Directed by Dibakar Banerjee and produced by Ektaa’s Balaji Motion Pictures, “LSD 2” premiered on April 19, 2024. While Paritosh Tiwari, Bonita Rajpurohit, and Abhinav Singh headline the cast, the sequel boasts a star-studded lineup of cameos featuring Mouni Roy, Tusshar Kapoor, Sophie Choudry, Anu Malik, Uorfi Javed, and others.
Exploring the theme of ‘love in the times of the internet’, “Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2” delves into contemporary relationships in the digital age.
Mouni Roy, renowned for her collaborations with Ektaa in television serials like “Naagin” and “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi”, made a special appearance in “LSD 2”, produced by Kapoor. What’s surprising is that the actress graciously waived her fee for the cameo role, a gesture that garnered appreciation from Ektaa Kapoor herself.
Expressing her gratitude on Instagram, Ektaa thanked Mouni, Tusshar, Sophie, and Anu Malik for their support, revealing that they lent their talents to the project without expecting any remuneration. Sharing Mouni’s Instagram post, Ektaa captioned it with heartfelt words, acknowledging the generosity and dedication of the cast:
“How will ever thank @imouniroy @tusshark89 @sophiechoudry @anumalikmusic for the cameos they did for me! Not a penny charged… they showed up and gave full 12-hour days for the film! So much love and genuine gratitude I have for them!!! #lsd2 is that film that is made with a lot of ‘jugaad’ – you pull favors, you ask people to step in to help in order to see a film so unconventional through! Thank you so much, I’m so touched, honored, and humbled you all did this for us and for #lsd2.”
Despite the anticipation surrounding its release, “Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2” encountered a lackluster response at the box office. Opening to a tepid collection of Rs 15 lakhs on Friday, the sequel witnessed a further decline on day two. Early estimates suggest that the film garnered Rs 12 lakhs on Saturday, bringing its total estimated collection to Rs 27 lakhs within two days.
Additionally, “LSD 2” faced stiff competition from “Do Aur Do Pyaar“, a romantic comedy featuring Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
In summary, while “Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2” may have struggled to make an impact at the box office, its ensemble cast, including Mouni Roy, displayed remarkable camaraderie and dedication, making the film a memorable endeavor for those involved.
