Recently Kriti Sanon had her latest hit Crew. The film also featured Kareena Kapoor and Tabu. The film minted Rs 75 crore at the domestic box office.
Kriti Sanon gained immense success from her latest heist comedy film release Crew. The film is helmed by Rajesh A Krishnan. In a recent interview, with Film Companion the actress had discussed about the pay parity. She has also questioned about paying 10 time more than her to the male co-stars.
Kriti said, “The difference in payment (between male actors’ and female actors’) currently is huge for actually no reason. Sometimes, for no reason. Sometimes, you feel like it’s not like that person has given a hit in 10 years, then why is he getting paid 10 times,”
The actress by explaining how producers justify this said, “A lot of the times, what the producers say is, recovery. The recovery happens with digital and satellite, which sort of happens before a film is released. Before the word kind of takes off. So to get that kind of budget from digital and satellite – because on digital and satellite, the male-centric films actually do very, very well as compared to a film on a girl. I think there’s the difference,”
Kriti has claimed that the producers were not ready to put in the same budget in Crew which had three A-list female actors as that would be similar in a entertaining comedy with three male actors. According to her, the aspect has not changed in six years since Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor who are the producers of Crew, backed got all-women mainstream film in Veere Di Wedding. The film featured Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor along with others.
Crew is about the airline industry and revolves around three air hostesses who get opportunities to make money illegally. The film also features, Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee and Kulbhushan Kharbanda among others. The movie has been co-produced by Rhea and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures. The film has minted over Rs 75 crore at the domestic box office.
Kriti’s upcoming project is Netflix India’s thriller Do Patti. The film also features Kajol. The film will be Kriti’s debut as a producer under the banner of Blue Butterfly Films.
