Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency was to hit the theatres on 6th September. Now, the movie have been pushed two weeks back. Here’s what Kangana said about the news.
Bombay High Court hq f ordered to delay Kangana’s movie by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). On Wednesday , the actor-politician took to her X (formerly Twitter) and shared a tweet by Live Law.
Emergency was set to be released on 6th September. But the high court have directed the censor board to consider the objectives which have been raised against the film. Now, the film is pushed back and is to be released on 18th September. Zee Entertainment Enterprises, the producer of the film have moved the Bombay HC seeking a direction to the CBFC to issue certificate for the biopic Emergency.
On Wednesday, B P B P Colabawalla and Firdosh Pooniwalla, division bench of justices have accepted the contention of the producer that the certificate was kept ready but not issued. As per the bench, the certificate was issued online to the makers of the film, the CBFC’s contention is that the certificate was not issued as it was not signed by the chairperson is incorrect. The court, however, noted it would have directed the CBFC to issue the certificate on Wednesday itself had there not been an order from the Madhya Pradesh HC.
On Wednesday, the petition filed by the Zee Entertainment during the hearing said that while it was with the petitioner on the issue it cannot grant any relief in the wake of the order passed by the Madhya Pradesh HC.
The biographical drama Emergency have been helmed by Kangana herself.
The movie also got caught into controversy as Sikh organisations including Shiromani Akali Dal, objected, have accused it of misrepresenting the community and getting wrong historical facts.
