The film Kalki 2898 AD stars actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Saswata Chatterjee, and Disha Patani. The film is a sci-fi mythological drama. The movie has been helmed by Nag Ashwin and it runs for 3 hours.
The begining of the movie is with Ashwatthama killing the last of the Pandavas during the Mahabharata, leading to Lord Krishna who curses him for immortality. The story is then takers the viewers 6000 years ahead, after the Kurukshetra war in Kashi which is now a desolate place. The Ganga is dry there and no sight of water and greenary can be seen.
The city has been ruled by Supreme Yaskin with his ‘Complex’ who treat people inhumanly. The rebels fight against the rule of the Supreme which adds to the intensity of the story. Also Read – Will Kalki 2898 Ad Gross ₹200 Crore Worldwide on Its First Day? Well Here’s What We Know!
The movie status intriguingly whitch captures the instant attention of the viewers. Filmmaker Aswin keeps the tone light with Bhairava’s humour despite of the bleak setting. The complex hides secrets which includes “Project K” which involves hundreds of pregnant women in sepate cells. The first half of the film primarily builds up the story which creates the anticipation for what is to come. The film shines in serious moments and the humour and a random song that features Prabhas and Disha Patani distracts a bit. Sometimes it feels like the Bhairava and the other characters are from a different world. Prabhas’s character of Bhairava has shades of Baahubali’s Shivudu. The performance of Amitabh Bachchan, Saswata Mukherjee and Deepika Padukone are very impressive. Some elements also reminds of Star Wars, Dune and Mad Max: Fury Road. There is also a scene with lightsabers.
The first half of the film has an engaging buildup which leaves the viewers curious about the unfolding story. The movie would be a thoroughly gripping if the unnecessary humour would be cut short.
