According to Bollywood Hungama, the censor process for the film has been successfully completed, with just a week left for its release. The Hyderabad office of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has passed the Telugu version of “Kalki 2898 AD” with a U/A certificate. The examining committee did not request any major cuts, which is good news for the filmmakers and fans alike. However, they did ask for a few modifications to be made before granting the certificate.
One of the key requirements was the insertion of a disclaimer at the beginning of the film. This disclaimer, accompanied by a voice-over, clarifies that the content of the film is purely fictional. It further states that the filmmakers have taken certain cinematic liberties and do not intend to offend any religion. Additionally, the CBFC requested that a mention of ‘2898 AD’ be included alongside the original text stating ‘6000 years after Mahabharata.’ Lastly, the word ‘Veedi’ was muted when referring to the character Kaal Bhairava.
After these changes were made, the CBFC issued the certificate to the makers of “Kalki 2898 AD” on June 20. Notably, the certificate mentions that the film’s length is 180.56 minutes, or in other words, 3 hours, 00 minutes, and 56 seconds. This makes “Kalki 2898 AD” the lengthiest film in Prabhas’s career to date.
His previous film, “Adipurush,” released in 2023, had a runtime of 179 minutes, closely following behind. Other notable films like “Salaar” (2023) ran for 175 minutes, and “Saaho” (2019) was 171 minutes long. “Radhe Shyam” (2022) was one of his shorter films, with a runtime of just 138 minutes. The “Baahubali” series also had significant lengths, with the first installment running for 159 minutes and the sequel, “Baahubali 2,” extending to 168 minutes.
