Emraan Hashmi made to headlines when he called Aishwarya “plastic” in the show Koffee with Karan. His 2014’s comment sparked a huge backlash. Emraan has also spoken about the consequences he had to face for his comment. Recently, in an interview with The Lallantop, Emraan spoke about his controversial remark which he made for Aishwarya.
During the interview, Emraan was asked if he regrets for his words. Emraan said, “I regret it. I keep saying that I have utmost respect for everyone I spoke about. I regret it because it was distasteful. Lately, people have become very sensitive. People get mad at everything on social media. In terms of the show, we were playing a game, it was all in jest. It was supposed to be taken sportingly. There are many such games in the show. Earlier, people weren’t this sensitive.”
“I would love to apologise if she felt offended.” The actor added.
Emraan also confessed that, “the rapid fire round in the latest season of the show was the most boring”. He feels so because now, the environment has completely changed.
In the show Koffee with Karan season 4, in the rapid fire round, Emraan was asked to mention the actor who comes on his mind when he hears the word plastic. He replied Aishwarya Rai.
Aishwarya have never reacted directly to Emraan’s comment. In Filmfare 2019, in an interview, Aishwarya said the worst thing which she heard about herself is “fakr and plastic”.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Emraan said, “You know what, when that rapid fire round happened, Karan had cut the shot, and he just looked around on the set and everyone was dumbfounded. He asked, ‘Can you actually keep this (Emraan’s answer)?’ And a couple of people behind the camera said, ‘Yes’.”
After two years of Emraan’s comment, there have been reports that Aishwarya turned down a film with Emraan. As per the reports, Aishwarya was to star in a film by Milan Luthria. But the actress refused the offer after she came to know that she will have to shoot several scenes with Emraan.
Emraan has also reacted to the buzz and said that he has also heard about the rumours but “don’t think it holds any truth”. According to him people just made a big deal about the matter.
