Love stories often come with intriguing twists, and Sonakshi and Zaheer’s tale is no exception. In a candid interview, Zaheer Iqbal, known for his role in Notebook, revealed that he once contemplated eloping with Sonakshi and getting married abroad. The idea was to escape the conventional wedding preparations and have a spontaneous wedding in another country. “I thought I should just bounce to another country, get married, and come back,” Zaheer shared. However, he soon realized that such a marriage would not be considered valid in India. “You can’t go to Las Vegas and get married; it is not allowed,” he told Galatta India.
Responding to Zaheer’s elopement idea, Sonakshi Sinha expressed that their plan to elope had to be scrapped. The Dabangg actress always envisioned an intimate wedding, which was essential for her. Fortunately, Zaheer was on board with this idea as long as the most important people in his life could be present. This compromise led to a beautiful and meaningful ceremony in Mumbai. On July 8th, Zaheer reminisced about their journey by sharing a heartfelt picture with Sonakshi on social media. He captioned it, “This day. This moment. This feeling. I knew it’s FOREVER #2017.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer have also shared the screen in the movie Double XL, directed by Satram Ramani. The 2022 film featured a stellar cast, including Huma Qureshi and Mahat Raghavendra. This collaboration showcased their on-screen chemistry, which was as delightful as their off-screen romance. This year, Zaheer made a special appearance in Aayush Sharma’s movie Ruslaan, further expanding his filmography.
On the other hand, Sonakshi Sinha has been busy with her own projects. She was last seen in the horror-comedy Kakuda, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and co-starring Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. The film added another feather to her cap, demonstrating her versatility as an actress.
Apart from Kakuda, Sonakshi played a significant role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. The courtesan drama featured an ensemble cast, including Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Fardeen Khan, and Sanjeeda Sheikh. Although the show received mixed reviews, Sonakshi’s performance was widely appreciated. Heeramandi has been renewed for a new season, though it remains unclear if the same cast will return.
