The highly anticipated release of Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 is scheduled for this Friday, April 19, amidst discussions of significant cuts mandated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Director Dibakar Banerjee hinted at these alterations during the trailer launch, setting the stage for a much-discussed film.
CBFC’s directives led to several modifications in the film. Initially, the duration of the disclaimer was extended by 10 seconds to accommodate a 20-second inclusion concerning legal safeguards for transgender individuals against sexual offenses, as mandated by the CBFC’s Examining Committee.
Furthermore, explicit language was muted throughout the film, including within song lyrics. Particularly, in the latter part of the movie, the phrase ‘Beti Bachao’ was muted, aligning with the CBFC’s guidelines. Additionally, the image of the National Flag was required to be blurred.
Following these alterations, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 was granted an ‘A’ certificate by the CBFC. The film’s duration, as indicated on the certificate, is 116 minutes, translating to a runtime of 1 hour and 56 minutes.
During the trailer launch event, Dibakar Banerjee shared insights into the censorship process, revealing a relatively smooth experience. He recounted the CBFC’s request to mute certain expletives, including ‘ma behen ki gaalis,’ prompting him to inquire if he could use derogatory terms towards fathers. However, the CBFC advised against it, emphasizing the need to maintain decorum.
Banerjee elaborated on the content retained and muted, highlighting a specific set of expletives permitted in the film, while others were censored. Additionally, he addressed the inclusion of frontal nudity in the climax, necessitating visual blurring to adhere to Indian film standards.
Starring Swastika Mukherjee, Abhinav Singh, Bonita Rajpurohit, and Paritosh Tiwari in pivotal roles, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 also features notable cameos from Mouni Roy, Tusshar Kapoor, Anu Malik, Sophie Choudry, and Uorfi Javed.
With anticipation building around its release, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 promises to push boundaries and deliver a bold cinematic experience while navigating the complexities of censorship in Indian cinema
