The film began its box office journey with a strong start, earning ₹8.3 crore on its opening day. The collection saw an upward trend over the next two days, with ₹10.25 crore on day two and ₹11.15 crore on day three. However, the earnings took a downturn on day four, collecting ₹3.5 crore. On day five, the film witnessed a minor increase in earnings, with early estimates suggesting a collection of ₹3.75 crore nett in India. As of now, “Bad Newz” has amassed a total of ₹36.95 crore in the Indian market. The film had an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 13.77% on Tuesday.
The film’s reception has been a mix of critique and praise. According to the Hindustan Times, “Bad Newz” is marred by familiar stereotypes, such as Punjabis’ fondness for rajma chawal, careless husbands, and career-focused women. Despite these clichés, the review highlights that the film stands out with its clever incorporation of meta-jokes. Notable references include Triptii Dimri’s character being humorously labeled as ‘Bhabhi 2’ and ‘National Crush,’ and a scene featuring a humorous dialogue about Vicky Kaushal’s character and Katrina Kaif. These moments are appreciated for their wit and originality, although the overall comedy might not be the film’s strongest suit.
“Bad Newz” is a comedy-drama that delves into an unconventional narrative, exploring the chaotic world of heteropaternal superfecundation. The story revolves around a woman, played by Triptii Dimri, who becomes pregnant with twins from two different men, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk. This plot twist offers a fresh take on the romantic comedy genre. The film serves as a spiritual successor to the 2019 hit “Good Newwz,” which starred Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, and Diljit Dosanjh.
Produced by Amritpal Singh Bindra, Apoorva Mehta, and Karan Johar, “Bad Newz” brings together a diverse cast and crew to deliver a unique cinematic experience. In addition to the main cast, the film features cameos by Ananya Panday and Neha Sharma, adding to the film’s appeal.
