Anushka Sharma recently shared insights into her parenting style and how she cleverly manages to ensure her three-year-old daughter, Vamika, eats healthy. In a recent appearance at Slurrp Farm’s YES Moms & Dads event, the Bollywood actress opened up about some of the challenges she faces as a parent and how she tries to navigate them alongside her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli. During the event, Anushka revealed that one of the ways she encourages Vamika to eat nutritious food is by trying to “fool” her into believing that healthy food is more exciting than it seems. She explained that while this worked well in the early stages of her daughter’s life, Vamika, being a smart child, has started to catch on. Anushka laughingly admitted that it’s becoming harder to convince Vamika with made-up stories, especially as she grows older and becomes more aware of the world around her.
When asked specifically about how she ensures her children eat healthy and avoid unhealthy snacks, Anushka candidly responded with an amusing yet relatable anecdote. She shared, “It’s easier when your child is very young, especially when they haven’t been exposed to things like birthday parties or events where junk food is often present. In the early years, they don’t know what cake or pizza is, and you can create a little bubble around them. But once they start seeing other kids eating these things, it becomes harder to maintain that healthy environment.”
Anushka explained that as Vamika becomes more exposed to different kinds of food, it’s getting trickier to maintain the same level of control. “Now, my daughter is starting to notice things like cake and pizza. She’s becoming more curious, and that bubble we created is beginning to burst,” the actress joked. However, she emphasized that she and Virat still prioritize instilling healthy habits in their children from a young age, hoping that it will benefit them in the long run.
One of the techniques Anushka uses to encourage healthy eating is by explaining to Vamika the benefits of nutritious food in a way that a child can understand. Anushka shared that she often tells her daughter, “Some foods give you energy to play and have fun, while others might give you a quick burst of energy but won’t last long enough for you to enjoy your day.” By framing it in terms of energy and fun, Anushka tries to make the concept of healthy eating more appealing to her daughter.
However, the actress also acknowledged that her efforts aren’t always successful. Vamika, like any three-year-old, often responds with skepticism or indifference. “She’s smart, and most of the time, she doesn’t buy it,” Anushka said with a laugh. “She’ll just look at me and say, ‘Whatever, just give me the food!’” Also Read- Bigg Boss 18 Update: Salman Khan’s Show To Appear In All New Theme; To Offer Much More This Time
Anushka also shared a personal story from a recent family trip to Singapore. She took Vamika to an ice-cream museum, thinking it would be a special treat for her daughter, who absolutely loves ice cream. Anushka had told Vamika that she could eat as much ice cream as she wanted, expecting her little one to indulge. However, to Anushka’s surprise, Vamika only had two servings before saying, “I’m done.” Anushka was taken aback but pleasantly surprised by her daughter’s self-control. She reflected that this might be a result of the healthy habits she and Virat have tried to cultivate from the beginning.
Anushka concluded by sharing her belief that when children are introduced to the right habits early on, they naturally develop a balanced approach to food. She hopes that by continuing to explain the importance of healthy eating and making it fun for Vamika, her daughter will grow up with a positive relationship with food.
On the work front, Anushka has been keeping a relatively low profile in the film industry since her last appearance in Zero, where she starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan. However, she is set to make a comeback in the much-anticipated biopic Chakda ‘Xpress, which is based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. Fans are eagerly awaiting her return to the silver screen, and Anushka has shared that she is excited to portray such an inspiring character.
In both her personal and professional life, Anushka Sharma continues to be an influential figure, balancing the demands of motherhood with her career while sharing her journey with honesty and humor.
