Actor Smriti Biswas made it to Bollywood as a child artist. She worked with famous filmmakers like Guru Dutt, Bimal Roy, BR Chopra and Raj Kapoor. She has worked in a lot of Hindi, Marathi and Bengali movies.
On Thursday, Smriti Biswas passed away in Maharashtra’s Nashik city. Reportedly, the actress died late on Wednesday night due to age-related issues. She has been living in a one-room-kitcheb flat in Nashik Road area.
On Thursday, filmmaker Harshal Mehta took to his Instagram and shared Smirti’s several old and recent pictures. He captioned the post which reads, “Go away in peace and to a happier place, dear Smritiji. Thank you for blessing our lives. RIP Smriti Biswas.”
Smiti Biswas started her film career as a child artist. He worked with most legendary filmmakers like Bimal Roy, V Shantaram, Mrinal Sen, BR Chopra, Guru Dutt, Bimal Roy and Raj Kapoor.
Smriti also worked as co-stars of actors like Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar and Balraj Sahni in various films. She debuted in the world of films with the Bengali movie Sandhya (1930). Model Girl (1960) was her last Hindi film. She then quit acting after marrying filmmaker S D Narang.
After the demise of her husband, the actress shifted to Nashik. She celebrated her 100th birthday on February 17, 2024. According to the sources, the actress has two sons named Rajeev and Satyajeet.
