Kill, the latest action-packed thriller starring Lakshya Lalwani and Raghav Juyal, has finally hit theatres, and it’s making quite the impact. Directed by Nikhil Bhat, the film has generated significant buzz, with many labeling it the most violent film in Indian cinema to date. Early reviews from netizens suggest that Kill lives up to its hype, with audiences praising the film’s intense and ruthless action sequences. To delve deeper into the film’s reception and box office expectations, we spoke with director Nikhil Bhat. The release of Kill coincides with the ongoing success of another major film, Kalki 2898 AD, which stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan. Kalki 2898 AD has been creating waves at the box office, setting high benchmarks in its initial weeks. Given the simultaneous release of these two significant films, we asked Nikhil Bhat about his box office expectations for Kill in the midst of the Kalki 2898 AD mania.
Nikhil Bhat expressed confidence and optimism about the diverse tastes of the Indian audience. He stated, “I feel India is a huge country with a wide range of cinematic preferences. I’m confident that a film like Kalki 2898 AD can receive immense love, and my film Kill can also garner significant appreciation. Both films can perform well in their respective spaces. The genres are distinct—Kalki 2898 AD is a sci-fi epic, while Kill is a gritty action thriller. This diversity in genres ensures that there will be an audience for both films. Historically, we’ve seen multiple films like Lagaan and Gadar succeeding simultaneously, so I believe there is ample room for both Kill and Kalki 2898 AD to thrive.”
When discussing what he hopes audiences will take away from Kill, Nikhil Bhat emphasized the film’s dual nature of entertainment and deeper messaging. “I want the audience to be thoroughly entertained, very simply put. It’s not about glorifying violence. The film depicts how violence brings agony and grief, regardless of which side it comes from. The moral compass can shift drastically because of violence. I strongly believe that the consequences of violence are far more dangerous than the reasons behind it. This is a key message in the film. So, while Kill offers pure entertainment, it also aims to convey the devastating impact of violence. I want viewers to find their own heroes within the story and root for them.”
Lakshya Lalwani and Raghav Juyal have delivered compelling performances, which have contributed to the film’s early positive reception. The chemistry and intensity they bring to their roles enhance the narrative, making Kill a must-watch for action film enthusiasts. As Kill continues to draw audiences to theatres, it’s clear that Nikhil Bhat’s vision of a film that balances intense action with a thoughtful message is resonating well. The film’s success amidst the Kalki 2898 AD craze underscores the director’s belief in the richness of India’s cinematic landscape and the capacity of its audience to embrace a wide array of films.
