On Tuesday, an FIR was lodged against the X user for uploading Deepfake video of Ranveer Singh in which he can be seen endorsing a political party.
Cyber Police Cell of Maharaj has registered an FIR against an X uset who uploaded a deepfake video of Ranveer Singh in which he appeared to make an appeal to vote for th4 Congress.
An official said, an Tuesday an FIR was registered by the actor’s father, Jagjit Singh Bhavani against th4 user @sujataindia1st.
According to the complaint, Ranveer went to Varanasi for promoting a fashion show. There inn an interview, he praised Narendra Modi.
As per the FIR, Ranveer said, “it is Modi ji’s purpose and goal to celebrate our rich culture, heritage, history, and legacy because we are moving ahead towards modernity very fast but we should never forget our roots, our cultural heritage,”
According to the FIR, @sujataindia1st an X user made a deepfake video in which the actor can be heard saying, “Modi ji’s purpose and goal to celebrate our painful life, fear, and unemployment because we are moving ahead towards injustice but we should never stop asking for our development and justice, vote for justice, vote for Congress,”
Ranveer’s father in the complaint said, he has never said this and does not have any relation with any political party.
An official said, that the FIR was registered under relevant Indian Penal Code sections, including 417 (cheating), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) and 469 (forgery for the purpose of harming reputation), and provisions of the Information Technology Act.
The city police has also registered an FIR against unidentified person in connection with a similar deepfake video or Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in which he dsn br seen endorsing a political party.
