Actress Vidya Balan, currently basking in the success of “Do Aur Do Pyaar,” recently shared a poignant incident from her past.
Directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta, “Do Aur Do Pyaar” features Vidya Balan alongside Pratik Gandhi, Sendhil Ramamurthy, and Ileana D’Cruz. The film, released in 2024, has garnered positive reviews, marking Vidya’s return to the big screen after a hiatus.
During the promotional rounds for her latest film, Vidya Balan has been refreshingly candid, recounting past encounters with directors and producers. In a revealing interview, she disclosed an incident where a producer once judged her based on her appearance early in her career. Recalling the hurtful moment, she shared, “We sat with the producer, and he said, ‘Just look at her, does she look like a heroine from any angle?’ I think that comment about my appearance was very damaging. For about six months, I didn’t have the guts to look at myself in the mirror.”
Years later, after the success of “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” in 2006, Vidya crossed paths with the same producer at the airport. This time, he expressed interest in casting her for a significant role in his upcoming project. Vidya gracefully responded by providing her manager’s contact details, indicating her willingness to discuss further.
In addition to her current projects, Vidya Balan is set to reprise her role in the “Bhool Bhulaiyaa” franchise after a 17-year hiatus. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the horror comedy also stars Kartik Aaryan, Tripti Dimri, and Madhuri Dixit, scheduled for a Diwali 2024 release.
