Mahabharat Star Mukesh Khanna Criticises Zeenat Aman for Backing Live-in Relationships: Says “She Lived Her Life According to Western Civilisation”

In a recent interview, Mukesh Khanna vehemently opposed Zeenat Aman’s suggestion advocating for couples to live together before marriage. Khanna, a seasoned actor, expressed his disapproval of what he perceived as an embrace of Western ideals by Aman.

Khanna firmly stated his stance during a conversation with Dainik Jagran, emphasizing that he finds Zeenat Aman’s endorsement of live-in relationships ‘unacceptable.’ He highlighted his belief that such arrangements are not in accordance with the traditions and values of Indian culture, attributing their emergence to Western influences. Khanna criticized Aman’s perspective, particularly given her own lifestyle choices aligned with Western norms, suggesting that her viewpoint was not reflective of Indian cultural values.

The actor’s dissent against live-in relationships was not isolated but rather a response to a broader discourse on the topic. Notably, fellow actors Mumtaz and Saira Banu had recently voiced their opposition to the concept, prompting Khanna to enter the fray with his own rebuttal against Aman’s stance.

Zeenat Aman, in contrast, had previously shared her personal endorsement of couples living together before marriage via an Instagram post. She advocated for the idea, citing it as practical and a necessary step before committing to marriage. Aman emphasized the importance of testing compatibility and resolving conflicts that arise from close proximity, suggesting that such experiences were integral to building a strong relationship foundation. Despite acknowledging societal reservations about the practice, she encouraged individuals to prioritize their personal happiness over societal norms.

Shifting the focus from the debate to her upcoming projects, Zeenat Aman is set to grace the silver screen once again. She is slated to appear in Faraz Arif Ansari’s film “Bun Tikki,” alongside veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol. Produced by Manish Malhotra, the release date of the film is yet to be disclosed, adding to the anticipation surrounding its premiere. Additionally, Aman will feature in “Margao Files,” further cementing her presence in the entertainment industry.

As the discourse on live-in relationships continues to evolve, Mukesh Khanna’s outspoken opposition and Zeenat Aman’s unwavering support underscore the diversity of perspectives within Indian society. With each individual advocating for their stance, the debate remains an ongoing conversation, reflective of the complex interplay between tradition, modernity, and personal values.
