Fane are in awe after the appearance of Alia Bhatt at New York’s Met Gala 2024. Alia was seen in a hand-embroidered saree which had a massive train. Her costume was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. A Reddit user have come up with old pictures of Deepika Padukone in which she wears a similar saree. The user said that Alia’s outfit is a “copy-paste” of it.
For the event Alia was styled by Anaita Shroff Adjania. Alia carried a 23-foot-lont embroidered train which took “163 dedicated individuals” and a “total of 1965 man-hours in making the saree. The saree is hand-embroidered with silk floss, glass beading and gemstones. The floral saree is in pink and green hues and also has beaded tassels on the border and a ruffled play on its front. The blouse features a sweetheart neckline, ruffled sleeves, intricate embroidery and embelished gemstones. It also has a tulle bow detail in it’s back.

Few years back, Deepika in Marathi Filmfate Awards 2017, wore a Sabyasachi saree. The share was a sheet tulle saree with floral applique. The saree also featured a light smattering of shimmery embellishment, an embroidered border and a long train. She carried the drape with a matching sleeveless blouse which carried a plunged neckline and floral embellishments similar to Alia’s outfit.
A Reddit user shared a collage of Alia and Deepika and wrote,”Sabyasachi has to stop copy-pasting his old looks.” Another comment read, “He has been called out before, but nope.” A person commented, “Alia should have opted for Gaurav Gupta or Rahul Mishra, Sabya’s designs are so repetitive it sore to the eyes now.” Another comment read, “Katrina also wore it at her wedding, and it’s ever closer with the same green colour palettes. Sabya should have given her a lehenga instead or something.”
Another commented, “I was telling y’all that these designs are common in India. Sabya himself has rinsed and repeated it so many times. Aloo looked beautiful and embrodery was amazing but was this a MeT GALA worthy look, no. And Alia should really blast on Sabya, man.” A Reddit user wrote, “Sabya run out of idea.”
