Imtiaz Ali Reveals, Shahid Kapoor’s breakup didn’t Affect the shooting of ‘Jab We Met’

In a recent interview, director Imtiaz Ali recalled about the shooting of his film Jab We Met despite the breakup of the leads, Shahid-Kareena.

Film Jab We Met is one of the icons love stories of all time. The songs, the dialogues, the characters, every bit of the film hits the right chords and still rules the heart of the fans. The most loved is the chemistry of Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.

The unknown fact is that during the film the couple broke up during the film’s shoot. In a recent interview, Imtiaz Ali recalled that the shooting wasn’t hampered for their breakup.

While talking to Galatta India, the director spoke about shooting for Jab We Met with Shahid and Kareena were in a rough patch of their relationship. The director said the couple would split at the end of the shoot but never showed on sets. He also added that there were only two days after their ‘so-called break-up’ that they had to shoot.

Imtiaz said, “He is one of the best friends I will ever have. So I was trying to make it with him. But it never got made to the extent that many years passed… Bobby was doing some other work, so I thought let it be, let’s not make this film together. We shook hands on that.”

He further said, “That time Shahid and Kareena were not doing supremely well. But these ups and downs keep happening in the lives of filmmakers and actors. But as filmmakers we don’t have to speculate like the stock market, judge what we think is right for a particular part and only that works. This is the learning of my life.”

Shahid Kapoor’s last prohibition was Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya with Kriti Sanon. The actor is now geared up for his upcoming film Deva for which the actor had already begun shooting.

Kareena’s last project was female-led comedy film Crew which was helmed by Rhea Kapoor. The film also featured, Tabu, Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, and Kriti Sanon. Kareena is all set for her upcoming film The Buckingham Murders helmed by Hansal Mehta. The premiere is at the 67th BFI London Film Festival in October 2023.
