Khel Khel Mein is the third release of Akshay Kumar of 2024. The movie has been directed by Mudassar Aziz. Besides Akshay, the movie also features Fardeen Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Aditya Seal, and Pragya Jaiswal. Since it’s release, the movie have been receiving mixed reviews. Fardeen Khan’s return to the big screen after 14 years have created more buzz within the audience.
An entertainment news has reported that Khel Khel Mein had to face some challenges after it’s UAE release. A scene of Fardeen Khan addressing a issue of sexuality was cut due to local censorship regulations. In an recent interview with Mid-Day, director Mudassar Aziz has expressed his disappointment about the cut. It was heartbreaking for him that something so relevant and thoughtfully portrayed have been removed from the UAE version of the movie. Aziz further said that being a filmmaker, it is his professional and moral responsibility to create diverse characters in order to spark meaningful conversations. Despite of being sad due to censorship, he was happy for the positive reactions received from the other parts of the world for the same scene.
Aziz also explained about his main aim through Fardeen’s role was to contribute a necessary and relevant conversation about the acceptance. The core message of the character remained intact after the edits made by UAE. He further added that he continues to stand by its importance.
Hindustan Times have reported that a fan from Dubai have expressed disappointment about the scene which have been censored from the movie. The fan further shared how they got upset when they heard from the Indian viewers about the scene and they felt that the censorship robbed them from experiencing the ‘powerful message’.
Khel Khel Mein have hit the theatres on August 15, 2024. The movie has a clash with another two movies which were Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 and John Abraham and Sharvari’s Vedaa. Stree 2 have been shattering records at the box office. The movie is the sequel of 2018’s superhit movie Stree.
Akshay Kumar will be next seen in Rohit Shetty’s upcoming movie Singham Again. The movie is a cop action drama which also features Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff in key roles.
