Chhaava have been directed by Laxman Utekar. The movie is the second collaboration of Utekar and Vicky Kaushal after the movie Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
Chhaava is a historical drama which is a portrayal of the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj who was the eldest son of the founder of the Maratha Empire. The movie also stars Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta in key roles. Pinkvilla have reported that the role of the Mughal prince will be portrayed by Neil Bhoopalam in the movie.
