The popular thriller franchise Race is gearing up for its fourth installment, as confirmed by producer Ramesh Taurani. Known for its high-octane action and intricate plots, the Race series has seen a dynamic shift in its cast over the years. The first two movies were spearheaded by Saif Ali Khan, while the third featured Salman Khan in the lead role. Fans are now eagerly speculating if Salman Khan will return for the upcoming Race 4. However, Taurani remains tight-lipped on the subject, saying, “We will announce the casting of the film soon.”
Taurani elaborated on the status of the new movie, stating that the script for Race 4 is complete, and the production is set to begin by the end of the year. Although the cast is yet to be finalized, he mentioned that the upcoming film will feature new faces. When asked about Salman Khan’s potential involvement, he replied, “I can’t comment on whether Salman Khan will be part of it or not.” The director for this new installment is also undecided, adding another layer of anticipation for the fans. Reflecting on the Race franchise’s evolution, the first film saw a star-studded lineup including Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, and Bipasha Basu. The sequel followed with Saif Ali Khan returning, joined by John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, and Jacqueline Fernandez. These initial films were directed by the duo Abbas-Mustan, who were known for their gripping storytelling and stylish direction. The third film, Race 3, took a different turn under the direction of Remo D’Souza, with Salman Khan leading the cast and Bobby Deol playing the antagonist.
In addition to Race 4, Taurani revealed plans for sequels to other popular films. He confirmed upcoming projects for both Bhoot Police and Soldier. “We will also make a sequel to ‘Bhoot Police’ and ‘Soldier’. The official announcement regarding the same will be made soon,” he said. Soldier, released in 1998, was a significant hit featuring Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta and was directed by Abbas-Mustan. Meanwhile, Bhoot Police, released in 2021, starred Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor, under the direction of Pavan Kirpalani.
Taurani also hinted at a forthcoming collaboration with Varun Dhawan and his father, director David Dhawan. He described the project as a vibrant entertainer with a blend of romance and great music. “We are doing an entertainer movie with a love story and great music with Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan. It will go on floors soon,” Taurani disclosed, noting that the search for the female lead is still ongoing. Currently, Taurani is also focused on Ishq Vishk Rebound, starring Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grewal. This film is a follow-up to the 2003 hit Ishq Vishk, which starred Shahid Kapoor. Taurani clarified that while it shares the name, it isn’t a direct continuation of the original movie.
Taurani shared his thoughts on the growing trend of sequels in the film industry, noting that it began to gain momentum around 2009-2010 with films like Race and Dhoom. He emphasized that crafting a successful sequel requires extra attention to the script to uphold the original’s legacy and brand value. “The trend of sequels started in 2009-2010 with ‘Race’ and ‘Dhoom’,” Taurani reflected. “One has to pay more attention to the script when making a sequel because the original film has a brand value,” he concluded.
As Taurani’s announcements unfold, fans can look forward to a series of exciting updates and sequels, including the much-anticipated Race 4.
