Salaar 2 is set to kick off production by the end of May at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, following the success of its predecessor. The decision to fast-track the sequel stems from the positive reception surrounding the original film, with hopes of replicating its box office triumph.
However, the accelerated production timeline poses a potential challenge for Jr NTR’s much-anticipated project, NTR 31 (working title). Jr NTR and director Prashanth Neel’s collaboration has generated significant buzz among fans of both, raising expectations for their upcoming venture. Initially slated to commence after the completion of Salaar, NTR 31 may now face a delay due to the priority given to Salaar 2.
According to reports from Track Tollywood, Prashanth Neel has communicated the sequencing decision to Jr NTR, who is adamant about adhering to the original plan of starting NTR 31 first. Both Jr NTR and the production house Mythri Movie Makers are urging Neel to honor their prior commitment, concerned that Salaar 2’s production may extend the timeline significantly.
Prashanth Neel, however, argues that initiating NTR 31 first would necessitate waiting until November, as Jr NTR is currently occupied with other commitments, including Devara and War 2. He suggests utilizing the interim period for Salaar 2’s production.
The conflicting priorities highlight the desire of both parties to prioritize their respective projects. The resolution of this impasse remains uncertain, with the potential for Salaar 2’s schedule to be substantially impacted if Neel accedes to the original commitment.
Meanwhile, recent report suggests that the shooting for Salaar 2 is slated to commence by the end of May at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. The 10-day schedule is expected to feature Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran among the cast. Although no official confirmation has been provided, the film’s release is tentatively scheduled for December 2025.
