Bollywood luminary Kriti Sanon, acclaimed for her versatility and charisma, recently opened up about the trials and tribulations she faced early in her career. From her debut as a model to her ascent in the acting realm, Kriti’s journey has been characterized by perseverance and resilience. However, behind the glitz and glamour lies a tale of frustration and restlessness, as she candidly shared in a recent interview.
Kriti burst onto the Bollywood scene in 2014 with her debut film “Heropanti,” starring alongside Tiger Shroff. Despite earning accolades, including the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, her path to success was fraught with challenges. Reflecting on her trajectory, she revealed grappling with the unsettling reality of losing roles to individuals born into film dynasties, colloquially known as “star kids.”
In a heartfelt conversation, she articulated the inner turmoil she experienced during that phase of her career. She confessed to feeling constrained by the limitations of the opportunities that came her way, yearning for roles that would truly allow her to showcase her full potential as an actor. “There was a phase where I was just very restless because I knew that I had way more potential than what I could portray in the opportunities that I had in front of me,” she lamented.
Driven by a desire for substantial roles that would challenge her skills, she expressed frustration at the dearth of such opportunities. “I wanted something where I could just show my potential as an actor way more,” she articulated, underscoring her hunger for roles that would push her boundaries and allow her talent to shine.
The actress also grappled with witnessing peers from film backgrounds effortlessly securing roles, seemingly without the same level of struggle. She recounted observing newcomers, some with notable lineage in the industry, effortlessly securing coveted opportunities. “At that point, I was also seeing some new faces, some of them belonging to the film background, coming in having not done anything and getting opportunities that I was like, how…” she remarked, highlighting the disparities she encountered.
Despite the challenges, she persevered, leveraging her talent and determination to carve a niche for herself in the competitive realm of Bollywood. Her stellar performances in films such as “Luka Chuppi,” “Bareilly Ki Barfi,” “Dilwale,” and the critically acclaimed “Mimi,” which earned her a National Award, solidified her status as one of the industry’s most bankable talents.
Beyond her acting prowess, Kriti has ventured into production, establishing her own production house, Do Patti. Her entrepreneurial spirit and creative vision underscore her commitment to charting her own path in an industry often dictated by legacy and lineage.
Currently riding high on the success of her latest release, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” Kriti continues to captivate audiences with her enigmatic screen presence. Her inclusion in Forbes’ India’s Celebrity 100 list in 2019 further attests to her stature as one of Bollywood’s most formidable talents.
In an industry where success is often measured by lineage and connections, Kriti Sanon’s journey serves as a testament to the power of perseverance, talent, and unwavering determination in transcending barriers and achieving greatness.
